The black ratsnake loves to eat the frogs of the pond. It also eats the mice in the basement, hence the nom de nom nom.
Our dog, Lefty, loves to go and see where his friend is and knows where to look. The ratsnake will play dead, looking like a big poop from a distance, but Lefty likes to nudge it. He doesn’t want to eat it, and the snake is not venomous, in fact it hardly ever bites. What it does do is release some contents of its lower digestive system as a warning before it slithers off quickly under cover.
This leaves Lefty to roll around as happy as a dog in smelly snake partings. He loves the aroma of the waste bits of processed frogs and mice.
There’s a lot of love shared in the garden, but…
“No you are not coming in the house!”
Just hilarious… I love him.
Such a lovely relationship😁 for them, but not great for you
